Ask the CEO - What books do you recommend for children?

All your questions for Naomi Adler, Esq., answered! This week’s question:

What books do you recommend for children?

I’d have to go with a shameless but sincere recommendation of the books we provide through our support of PJ Library in partnership with Jewish Learning Venture. PJ Library delivers a new children’s book, free of charge, to your house every month for kids six months through eight years old. My kids loved it! One of my sons especially liked a graphic novel called The Adventures of Rabbi Harvey, about a rabbi in the rootin’-tootin’ Wild West — it’s still on his shelf five years later, after he’s so-called “outgrown” it.

Other recent favorites among young PJ Library readers have been Bagels from Benny, I Dissent — a picture book about Ruth Bader Ginsburg! — A Hen for Izzy Pippik and Todah, which is about being thankful; also a book whose title makes me laugh, called Mrs. Katz and Tush. These books are really all wonderfully written, with beautiful art, and a great way to introduce Jewish ideas to kids or to your family in an entertaining and accessible way.

You can sign up your child for PJ Library by clicking here. And if you know of a child who is not already receiving these age-appropriate books, please forward this post to their parents. Thanks to your support of this wonderful partnership, more than 5000 Greater Philadelphia families already receive these monthly gifts!

Shabbat Shalom,
Naomi
