What’s the best professional advice you’ve ever gotten?
The best advice I ever got was in a leadership course in Westchester, New York, where I learned that leadership is all about authenticity. That in order for an organization to succeed, you need to be clear about its mission and values, and make sure the work you do authentically connects to that strong foundation. And if you find it doesn’t authentically connect, then you have to change course.
I’ve kept that advice in the front of my mind ever since. I review our Jewish Federation mission statement all the time, to make sure I’m always reminded of who we are and what we aim to do, so that as we move forward, we are always in authentic alignment:
The Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia mobilizes financial and volunteer resources to address the communities’ most critical priorities locally, in Israel and around the world.
