The Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia is pleased to welcome Meir Zimmerman as the new assistant director of the Jewish Community Relations Council (JCRC).

“I’ve always believed that a thriving Jewish community is one where every individual feels not only heard and valued, but also truly connected,” said Zimmerman. “I’m particularly motivated by the chance to ensure that no Jew feels alone in navigating their identity or finding their place within the broader community. When people feel they belong, they engage more deeply and meaningfully with our work, which amplifies our collective impact.”

Prior to joining the Jewish Federation, Zimmerman worked for the Jewish Federation in Boston, called the Combined Jewish Philanthropies (CJP), as their senior manager of campus and leadership development. He was responsible for CJP’s campus and leadership development grantmaking strategy, helped coordinate the Boston-Haifa Connection, and supported Jewish Life on 20 local campuses in Boston. Zimmerman also led initiatives addressing mental health and combating antisemitism on college campuses.

He holds a master’s degree in macro social work from the Boston College School of Social Work, where he currently works part-time as an adjunct faculty member.

In his new role, he will focus on building relationships within the Greater Philadelphia community, organizing forums, and driving meaningful change through advocacy work and programs to strengthen the Jewish community.

“This role also provides a unique opportunity to build meaningful bridges — not just within our community, but also with our neighbors throughout the Greater Philadelphia area. Coming from the Jewish Federation in Boston, I’ve seen firsthand how empowering and uniting a community can create lasting, positive change. I’m eager to work closely with my JCRC team members to bring those experiences to Philadelphia and help further strengthen an already resilient and vibrant Jewish community.”
