There’s no better way to soak up a summer evening in Philly than with live music and a picnic in the park. That combination gets even better when the night includes celebrating both Israel70 — the Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia’s yearlong commemoration of Israel’s 70th anniversary — and Philadelphia’s 52-year “Sister Cities” relationship with Tel Aviv. Kicking off the Center City District’s beloved summer-long concert series Pairings on the Parkway, the Jewish Federation and Citizen Diplomacy International are teaming up for a very special evening featuring Israel-born singer-songwriter Hadar McNeill.

Known for her electronic pop music, Hadar’s upbeat style emerges from her years of classical music training at The Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance combined with her love of both Israeli and American pop stars, including Stevie Wonder, Celine Dion, Whitney Houston and especially Prince. Aiming to further develop what has become her unique blend of Israeli and American sounds, after her army service Hadar moved to Philadelphia, which she adoringly calls her “second Jerusalem,” and where she recorded her most recent album, Simple Complex.

On June 7th from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., join us to hear Hadar perform at Sister Cities Park, located on 18th Street between Race and Vine. Pack your picnic basket and BYOB, or sample the delicious summer grilling menu from Logan Square Café along with wine available from Chaddsford Winery.
