Are you a Jewish parent looking to develop skills to advocate for your children in the face of growing antisemitism? The Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia’s Jewish Community Relations Council (JCRC) and the Philadelphia Anti-Defamation League (ADL) are hosting a three-part, all virtual series.
Designed for parents of any knowledge or skill level, participants will learn from experts, state officials, school administrators and parents about the current environment in secular and parochial schools for Jewish students.
“We have witnessed a drastic increase in antisemitism over the past year, with many antisemitic incidents occurring in middle and high schools,” said JCRC Director Jason Holtzman. “We wanted to offer the community a series to help them understand what has been going on and offer them tools to help deal with any future incidents that may happen in their children's schools.”

An overview of the state of antisemitism in the US and in Pennsylvania. Using ADL resources, we will discuss relevant issues of hate in schools and what is currently being done to remedy them.
This program will be based on ADL's "Words to Action” program, designed to help Jewish youth and college students examine their identities and be equipped with constructive and effective responses to combat antisemitism in their lives, including:

- Recognizing the implications of antisemitism on oneself and community
- Responding to stereotypes and prejudice
- Processing internalized antisemitism
- Situating antisemitism inside a broader matrix of oppression
This program will allow parents to speak with school administrators, ADL and JCRC representatives, professionals with firsthand insight, and other parents about ongoing issues, resources that schools can provide, and means of combating hate.
