This month, the Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia welcomed five new NextGen board members. Read on to discover why they’re passionate about this community and what they hope to achieve during their tenure.

Lexi and Nathan Muchnick, Associate Outreach Co-Chairs

 What do you hope to accomplish during your term?

We hope to expand NextGen’s reach to engage and connect with new members in order to continue to build long lasting ties to the Jewish Federation. Our goal is to focus on outreach to young individuals and families in the suburbs that may not be part of NextGen already. We also plan to reengage members who have drifted away after moving to the suburbs.

Why do you choose to invest both your time and dollars in the Jewish Federation?

We see the Jewish Federation as one of the best ways to make a direct impact on the Jewish community, both locally and globally. With the aggressive rise in antisemitism, the Jewish Federation’s work is more urgent and essential than ever. Additionally, Lexi worked as a social worker at Jewish Family and Children’s Service and has experienced firsthand how donations of time and money can better the lives of those in our community that need it most.

Jordan Snetman, Leadership Chair

What do you hope to accomplish during your term?

I hope to help more young Jewish professionals find meaningful ways to connect, get involved and feel at home in our community. I love bringing people together, and I’m excited to help create experiences that turn new connections into lasting friendships and deeper involvement.

Why do you choose to invest both your time and dollars in the Jewish Federation?

The Jewish Federation has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember, and giving back to the Jewish community is something that my family instilled in me from a young age. I invest my time and dollars because I’ve seen firsthand the impact that the Jewish Federation can have, and I want to play a role in making sure our community continues to grow and thrive for generations to come.

Allison Borrow, Outreach Chair

What do you hope to accomplish during your term?

There's a whole population of Jewish-curious, Jewish-adjacent Philadelphians who are one invite away from being in the room and engaged with their interests. That's the gap I want to close — not big institutional programming, just the work of turning "I'd probably like that" into showing up. Success looks like bridging that gap and helping people engage with and get involved in NextGen — people who never would have found it otherwise.

Why do you choose to invest both your time and dollars in the Jewish Federation?

The Jewish Federation is the infrastructure that holds this community together, the kind of thing you don't notice until it's missing. Giving financially is tikkun olam (repairing the world) in practice. I am inspired to put my professional and community skills to work for the Jewish Federation, not just fund it from the sidelines.

Josh Bareket, Associate Campaign Chair

What do you hope to accomplish during your term?

During my first term I hope to help grow the next generation of Jewish leaders in the Greater Philadelphia region. As associate campaign chair, I will work towards meeting our fundraising goals so that the Jewish Federation can continue to invest in our community in an impactful way. Through all the above, I hope to continue developing and nurturing a strong Jewish community.

Why do you choose to invest both your time and dollars in the Jewish Federation?

The Jewish Federation is the organization where your dollars and time make the most impact in Philadelphia’s Jewish community. To be able to be a part of the work of the Jewish Federation, for me, is very important. Community takes effort and I believe the Federation's effort makes the greatest impact.
