The Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia’s Jewish Community Foundation hosted its 30th Annual Solomon and Sylvia Bronstein Seminar for Professionals on Thursday, Sept. 4 at The Lucy by Cescaphe in Philadelphia.
The event brought together 150 professionals in the estate planning industry, including attorneys, accountants, trust officers, financial advisors and insurance professionals. Over the course of the seminar, guests networked with peers, learned about the impact of the Jewish Federation and its Jewish Community Foundation, and gained insights from leading voices in the field.
“For three decades, we have been bringing estate planners together to network, learn and understand the philanthropic services that the Jewish Community Foundation can offer to them and their clients,” said Jewish Federation’s Chief Planned Giving Officer Jennifer Brier, Esq. “These professionals play a vital role in ensuring Jewish continuity for generations to come – and we are honored to partner with them to provide our community members with opportunities to create their own philanthropic legacies."
The attendees enjoyed breakfast and listened to Keynote Speaker Turney P. Berry, Esq.’s presentation on “Planning for the Middle Rich Who Need Our Help.” Berry is a nationally recognized leader in the areas of estate and business planning, estate and trust administration, charitable giving, and tax-exempt organizations.
In addition, the Jewish Community Foundation honored Amy S. Ufberg, Esq. with the Edward N. Polisher award. The award, named in memory of Ed Polisher who exemplified leadership and service within estate planning and the Jewish community, annually recognizes an outstanding estate planner who has provided distinguished service to the Jewish Community Foundation.
“This award carries the legacy of service, integrity and community that Edward Polisher embodied,” Ufberg said upon accepting the award. “Community is the way we show up for each other — consistently and wholeheartedly — so that no one has to do it alone … Community isn’t just what we have in common — it’s what we choose to do in common.”
