Our Year End Message: Closing Thoughts from Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia Board Co-Chairs

Written by Jewish Federation Staff | Aug 9, 2023 8:14:22 PM

As we approach the end of our 2023 campaign year, we want to express our heartfelt gratitude for your unwavering dedication to the Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia and our mission to impact countless lives locally, in Israel and around the world. During our time as Board Co-Chairs, we have been in constant awe of how you continue to show up as we work together to build a vibrant and resilient Jewish community.

While we have seen antisemitism continue to rise locally and worldwide, your Jewish Federation has remained committed to taking proactive steps to safeguard and secure local communities and institutions. With your support, we’ve performed more than 60 security assessments, held 42 security briefings and performed 20 training sessions resulting in 582 community members being educated in emergency response since beginning our partnership with the Secure Community Network at the onset of the fiscal year.

The Jewish Federation’s Jewish Community Relations Council (JCRC), which educates and advocates on behalf of Jewish interests and issues throughout our region, in Israel and around the world, has continued to raise awareness with local elected officials, interfaith clergy, business leaders and for-profit institutions by educating them about the dangers of antisemitism. JCRC has also provided support and helped to reach solutions for Jewish families and individuals who have been targeted by acts of violence, verbal assaults and harassment.

Even in the face of unprecedented hate, we are grateful to the thousands of community members who celebrated the rich history, cultural achievements and diversity of Israel in honor of its 75th birthday this past spring. It was wonderful to see so many of you at one of the Jewish Federation’s 25+ hands-on volunteer opportunities, 80+ Shabbat experiences, the Israeli culture and food festival with award-winning chef Michael Solomonov, or on the incredible mission to Israel with 130 friends both new and old.

As we near the conclusion of the campaign year and our roles as Board Co-Chairs, we want to thank those who already donate. If you have not already contributed to the 2023 Annual Campaign, we ask that you consider making a gift by August 31 by visiting jewishphilly.org/donate or calling 215.832.3484.

A gift today will help us pave the way for a secure and vibrant Jewish future for generations to come.
