It’s all about Jewish community for Carrie Matez.
For over two years, Carrie has served as the Kehillah Coordinator in Bucks County, where she currently lives. In the last year, she also assumed the role of Director of Northeast Jewish Life, representing a neighborhood where she spent many of her formative teen years.
“It’s a privilege to work with the organizations that helped shape my life, and to give back to two communities that I love so much,” said Carrie.
Carrie's connection to the Greater Philadelphia Jewish community began in her hometown of Jenkintown with family Shabbat dinners, services at Beth Sholom Synagogue, summers at Ramah, youth group programs, like Kadima and USY, and studying at Gratz Hebrew High School. Active in Hillel at her alma mater of Brandeis University, Carrie went on to receive a Master’s Degree in Aging/Health and Community Organization from the University of Pennsylvania’s School of Social Work and carried her passion of Jewish life and community into professional roles at Hillel, JFCS and Gratz College.
Community members can meet Carrie in person at the upcoming Bucks County Jewish Festival on Sunday, May 15 from 12:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. This free festival at the Bucks County Community College will have an array of activities, with something for every age: crafts, vendors, music, a rock wall, book nook with PJ Library and jkidphilly, kosher food, a kosher wine tasting, and more.
“We are so excited to be able to bring back this beloved festival to Bucks County, and have our community come together in person once again. There will be something for everyone to enjoy.” Carrie explained. “I hope to see you there, and please make sure to come say hello!”
