Women’s Philanthropy of the Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia celebrated the community’s collective generosity at the Annual Lion of Judah Event on September 27 at the Hilton Philadelphia City Avenue. Around 180 women attended the event, featuring guest speaker Rabbi Shira Stutman.

“The Annual Lion of Judah Event was the highlight and kickoff of our year!” said Women’s Philanthropy Director Lindsay Davidman. “It was an amazing opportunity for our most dedicated philanthropists to connect with each other and raise money in support of our global Jewish communities.”

This year, the signature event honored five remarkable women who have served as Chairs of the Board of the Jewish Federation: Miriam (Mimi) Schneirov, Ande Adelman, Sherrie Savett, Susanna Lachs Adler and Gail Norry.

“Being the first woman chairing the board [of the Jewish Federation] was an awesome responsibility as well as an honor,” said Lion of Judah honoree Miriam (Mimi) Schneirov. “I saw it as an opportunity to be a mentor to younger women to make sure that I wasn’t the last.”

Planned by a multi-generational team of Women’s Philanthropy leadership, the program committee included Event Chairs Judy Newman and Shelby Zitelman, Chair Tracy Gordon, Campaign Chair Allison Goodman, and Co-Chairs Elect Robin Robbins and Jen Thomas.

To ensure that philanthropy continues for future generations of women, the Lion of Judah event launched the Lion Behind the Pin campaign, an opportunity for Lions to endow and gift their pin to another woman who will carry on their legacy and generosity.

Attendees gathered to celebrate women leadership and philanthropy.

180 Greater Philadelphia Lions enjoyed the presentation.
