Have you ever visited our Jewish Federation headquarters at 2100 Arch Street in Center City? If you’ve passed through our glass doors, you’ve doubtless noticed that we’re housed in the “Jewish Communal Services Building.” There’s good reason for that name. Our building serves not just as our own home base, but as home base for more than a dozen other Jewish organizations including HIAS Pennsylvania, JEVS Human Services, Camp Galil and Camp Ramah, the Jewish Exponent and the Philadelphia Holocaust Remembrance Foundation. Together, it makes up our Center City “campus” — one of five Jewish Federation-operated campuses throughout our region.
Each campus allows Greater Philadelphia’s most vital Jewish agencies and organizations to be located in one place that’s convenient for local residents to access. These campuses — in Bryn Mawr, Wynnewood, Elkins Park, Northeast Philadelphia and Center City — provide a home base for over 30 Jewish organizations, helping us to effectively serve our area’s diverse populations. The Jewish Federation gives many of these organizations support in the forms of rent subsidies, technical support, security consultations and snow removal, so that they can focus on carrying out the crucial work so many rely upon.
On our five campuses, which total over 100 acres, we house numerous educational institutions, including Federation Early Learning Services, Cheder Chabad, Perelman Jewish Day Schools, Jack M. Barrack Hebrew Academy, Touro School and Gratz College. At KleinLife and the Kaiserman JCC, families and older adults meet friends, learn and access important nutrition, health and wellness services. And the organizations Judith Creed Horizons for Achieving Independence, Because We Care, and Jewish Family and Children’s Service provide critical support, assistance and activities to all who need it. Together, these organizations help build communities and generate a vibrant Jewish life that resounds across the entire region.
