Were you left speechless in Jerusalem? Swept off your feet by Tel Aviv? Was your trip to Israel an adventure of a lifetime? Were you surprised by the people, the food, the landscapes? If you have a treasured memory that begins with “Once, in Haifa…” or “When I was in the Negev…” then the Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia’s My Israel Story Workshops are for you.
In these free workshops, led by professional coaches from First Person Arts — Philadelphia’s premier storytelling organization — you’ll learn to give life to all of your unforgettable Israel moments. You’ll practice the thousand-year-old Jewish tradition of telling stories. No matter whether you are a seasoned wordsmith or don’t often put a pen to the page, by the end of these memoir-focused sessions you’ll be a regular Isaac Bashevis Singer!
And after you’ve worked in small groups to craft your Israel-themed story, you’ll have the opportunity to return later in the day to retell that tale in front of a professional videographer, providing you with a high-quality recording ready for you to share on social media. Some participants will also be invited back to take the mic on the 5-6-70 Israel! stage, our community celebration for Israel’s 70th birthday.
So… What’s YOUR Israel story? Share it with us at one of our four workshops:
