This spring the Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia celebrated some amazing events, including our 5-6-70 Israel! festival, JFRE’s Legends & Leaders, and Women’s Philanthropy’s Pomegranate fashion event at Boyds. Take a look!
5-6-70 Israel!
On May 6th, thousands of people turned out in Valley Forge to celebrate Israel’s 70th birthday with the Jewish Federation. Family-friendly festivities filled the afternoon: children enjoyed face painting and enthusiastic Gaga games while adults enjoyed wine and olive oil tastings. All ages took to the dance floor, and the crowd went wild for a parade and performance by the Quaker City String Band. Click here to view the full photo album!
The face painting station was a huge hit for the younger crowd.
Young students from the Jewish Committee on Scouting had a blast on the dance floor.
The Quaker City String Band wowed the crowd with their performance of “Fiddling with Tradition.”
JFRE Legends & Leaders
Jewish Federation Real Estate (JFRE)’s 7th annual Legends and Leaders, at the Crystal Tea Room, was a record-breaking event that capped off a truly banner year. The event drew a record number of sponsors (82) and raised a record amount of money ($460,500). That outpouring of support echoes a record-breaking fundraising year, allowing JFRE to grant a record amount of money ($556,400) to fund 19 charitable projects for a record number of projects.
This year’s event featured Legends and Leaders’ legendary networking hour, followed by an Inaugural Hall of Fame induction welcoming legendary Philadelphia real estate pioneers and charitable leaders into the annals of real estate. Afterwards, breakout sessions discussed this year’s theme, “Disruption in Real Estate,” in five specialized panels.

Women’s Philanthropy Pomegranate Event
The Jewish Federation’s Women’s Philanthropy Pomegranate-level donors celebrated a special evening of fashion and fundraising at Boyds department store. The event featured Liraz Cohen Mordechai, the founder of Fashionating, who presented an exciting multimedia presentation on the glamorous world of Israeli fashion as well as a Maskit Israeli trunk show. Pomegranate donors, who contribute a minimum of $1,800 annually to the Jewish Community Fund, enjoyed learning about how Israeli identity has influenced Israeli fashion and hearing about how the dollars raised by the Jewish Federation can help influence Jewish identity for a lifetime.
