The Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia is thrilled to announce the 13 schools, synagogues and agencies participating in the LIFE & LEGACY® initiative, a partnership with the Harold Grinspoon Foundation (HGF).
Successfully operated in 72 other communities around North America, the four-year results-oriented endowment-building program will equip Jewish communal professionals and lay leaders in the Greater Philadelphia area with the skills, knowledge and plans to incorporate legacy giving into their own philanthropic culture.
The first cohort of this program is composed of Greater Philadelphia area synagogues, schools and agencies that reflect various Jewish denominations, including a spectrum of Reform, Conservative and Orthodox affiliations. The first cohort will participate in several trainings in the first year as well as receive guidance, consultations and financial incentives from HGF and Jewish Federation.
“We are honored to partner with the Harold Grinspoon Foundation through their LIFE & LEGACY ® initiative,” said Michael Balaban, President & CEO of the Jewish Federation. “Through this partnership, we look forward to changing the language and landscape of giving and providing forward-thinking members of our community with the opportunity to express their passion, purpose and commitment to their most valued Jewish organizations.”
This initiative is part of the Harold Grinspoon Foundation’s investment of more than $30 million to preserve vibrant Jewish life for future generations by ensuring the long-term financial health of Jewish community organizations in cities across North America.
To date, LIFE & LEGACY has secured more than 36,000 legacy commitments for organizations, with an estimated future value of more than $1.4 billion with $172 Million realized gifts at work in organizational endowments.
