The Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia is pleased to welcome Joshua Karp as its new senior major gift officer.
In his role, Karp will focus on securing philanthropic multi-year commitments and annual donations. By stewarding relationships with supporters and prospects, Karp will drive the organization’s philanthropic growth.
“I'm looking forward to meeting those in the community who have a deep appreciation and interest in the work the Jewish Federation has to offer,” Karp said. “For me, the best days are when I’m out in the community meeting and speaking with individuals and families who want to enrich their legacy in the Philadelphia Jewish community.”
Part of Karp’s role includes managing major gift prospects and cultivating key donor relationships. He will guide giving strategies and engage community members to build lasting financial support for the Jewish Federation’s vital initiatives.
“I'm excited to step into a role and organization that has a direct impact on the Greater Philadelphia Jewish community and Israel,” Karp said. “Having three kids of my own has reaffirmed my belief in creating a more secure and vibrant Jewish future for years to come.”
Before joining the Jewish Federation, Karp was the director of development at Drexel University’s Kline School of Law. There, he managed a portfolio of approximately 150 supporters and prospects, leading to more than $3 million in philanthropic contributions. During his tenure, he also increased leadership giving society membership by 25% and created the law school’s first student and alumni mentorship program, engaging more than 150 participants.
Prior to Drexel University, Karp served as the assistant athletic director and director of athletic development at La Salle University, overseeing major gift prospects and fundraising initiatives across multiple athletic programs.
Karp holds a Master of Science in Sports Management from Temple University and a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from Indiana University.
