The Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia is pleased to welcome Charles (Chuck) Avner as the new director of finance.
“I grew up in Northeast Philadelphia and have been very familiar with the Jewish Federation since I was a child,” said Avner. “My parents made annual gifts and expressed the importance of Jewish organizations such as this. I was excited when the director of finance position became available, and I look forward to working with my co-workers in the Finance Department and the rest of the Jewish Federation’s staff.”
Prior to joining the Jewish Federation, Avner worked at The University of the Arts as the assistant vice president and controller. He was also the director of global accounting at BDP International, Inc., where he managed financial reporting and tax operations and developed the company’s policies and procedures manual.
Avner holds a bachelor degree in Business Administration from Temple University. He is a CPA and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
Some of Avner’s responsibilities include supervising members of the Finance Department, coordinating and leading the annual audit and tax return preparation and filing process, and providing overall financial oversight and monitoring.
