The Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia is pleased to welcome Derek Czekaj as the new senior accountant.

“I am excited about the opportunity to bring my experience in accounting to an organization that serves a larger purpose of helping people,” said Czekaj. “The Jewish Federation contributes to causes that deeply matter. Their work spans both local community development and global initiatives within the Jewish community.”

Prior to joining the Jewish Federation, Czekaj worked for Deloitte and Touche as a senior audit assistant. In this role he collaborated with various clients locally in preparing their annual audits.

Czekaj also assisted a retail space across their global operations in the adoption of SOX internal controls — the rules and systems that public companies must implement to ensure the accuracy of their financial reporting.

As an intern with Spring Oaks Capital, he reconciled remittances for the auditors and developed the Lawsuit Deductible Tracker.

Czekaj is a graduate of Pennsylvania State University, where he earned both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in accounting.

In his new role, Czekaj will process data imports, book journal entries, support the annual financial statement audit and assist with the monthly financial close process.
