What’s better than brisket on Rosh Hashanah? Brisket with a holiday twist! This recipe uses pomegranate juice and honey to add acidity and sweetness to the traditional cut of meat. Not only does it taste good, it has special significance. Pomegranates are a common motif throughout Jewish cultures, with their preponderance of seeds being seen as a metaphor for the 613 mitzvot. In fact, a common Rosh Hashanah expression is, “May we be as full of virtues as the pomegranate is full of seeds,” and it’s considered a segura (good luck) to have one on your table. We think it’s the perfect way to spice up your traditional holiday spread!
