Brisket with a holiday twist! This recipe uses pomegranate juice and honey to add acidity and sweetness to the traditional cut of meat. Not only does it taste good, it has special significance. Pomegranates are a common motif throughout Jewish cultures, with their preponderance of seeds being seen as a metaphor for the 613 *mitzvot*. In fact, a common Rosh Hashanah expression is, “May we be as full of virtues as the pomegranate is full of seeds,” and it’s considered a *segura* (good luck) to have one on your table. We think it’s the perfect way to spice up your traditional holiday spread! For the recipe, courtesy of Abington-born celebrity kosher chef Jamie Geller, publisher of JOYofKOSHER.com, click [here](https://jamiegeller.com/recipes/pomegranate-braised-brisket/).* B’te-avon* (bon appétit)! *Photo and recipe courtesy of Jamie Geller, JamieGeller.com* Share [Share on Facebook](http://www.facebook.com/share.php?u=https://blog.jewishphilly.org/this-weeks-nosh-pomegranate-braised-brisket-for-rosh-hashanah&title=This%20Week's%20Nosh:%20Pomegranate%20Braised%20Brisket%20For%20Rosh%20Hashanah) [Share on Twitter](http://twitter.com/home?status=This%20Week's%20Nosh:%20Pomegranate%20Braised%20Brisket%20For%20Rosh%20Hashanah+https://blog.jewishphilly.org/this-weeks-nosh-pomegranate-braised-brisket-for-rosh-hashanah) [Share by Email](mailto:?subject=This%20Week's%20Nosh:%20Pomegranate%20Braised%20Brisket%20For%20Rosh%20Hashanah&body=This%20Week's%20Nosh:%20Pomegranate%20Braised%20Brisket%20For%20Rosh%20Hashanah%20-%20https://blog.jewishphilly.org/this-weeks-nosh-pomegranate-braised-brisket-for-rosh-hashanah) ### Sign up for the *Jewish Philly* E-Newsletter [Back to The Latest](https://blog.jewishphilly.org) [Tweets by JFedinPhilly](https://twitter.com/JFedinPhilly?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw) ## Find us on ![JFGP_KO_rgb](https://blog.jewishphilly.org/hs-fs/hubfs/JFGP_KO_rgb.png?width=300&height=84&name=JFGP_KO_rgb.png) Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia Two Commerce Square 2001 Market Street, Suite 2300 Philadelphia, PA 19103 [215.832.0500](tel:1-215-832-0500) | [info@jewishphilly.org](mailto:info@jewishphilly.org) *The Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia welcomes the participation of Jews across the religious spectrum, interfaith couples and families, and people of all abilities, backgrounds, gender identities, and sexual orientations.
