Since 1997, the Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia has maintained a close relationship with the Israeli region of Netivot and Sdot-Negev: a colorful part of Southern Israel that is militarily vulnerable.

Located along the border with Gaza, residents regularly experience rocket attacks. Large numbers of its citizens, particularly children, suffer with PTSD, and many have had their homes, schools, or workplaces damaged or destroyed.

As a result, the community has developed a powerful resilience that helps them not only survive but thrive. Members of our professional team reached out to us with some tips on managing difficult emotions when life feels catastrophic.

Each year, over 350 Philadelphians visit our partnership region of Netivot and Sdot-Negev. Click here to learn more our work supporting their security and nature preservation efforts and supporting their Ethiopian Jewish community.
