The Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia is committed to fostering career development across all levels. As part of an ongoing effort to expose young professionals to the influential work of a mission-driven, Jewish nonprofit, the Jewish Federation is excited to welcome two summer interns: Strategy & Impact Intern Nina Berkowitz and Marketing Intern Lucas Glozman.
“We are thrilled to welcome Nina and Lucas through the Franklin C. Ash summer internship program,” said Jewish Federation’s Chief Human Resources Officer Melissa Gabillon. “Supporting the next generation of Jewish leaders is a core commitment of our organization. Our internship programs are thoughtfully designed to ensure each intern has a valuable and impactful experience, learning firsthand about the incredible work we do within the community.”
Berkowitz and Glozman will work at the Jewish Federation for seven weeks as part of the JEVS Human Services’ Franklin C. Ash Summer Internship Program, which connects college students with leading Jewish nonprofits.
In addition to the Franklin C. Ash Summer Internship Program, JEVS Human Services is a grantee of the Jewish Federation that touches the lives of thousands each year by focusing on individuals with physical, developmental and emotional challenges, as well as those facing adverse socioeconomic conditions, including unemployment and underemployment.
Meet Nina Berkowitz: Strategy & Impact Intern
“I wanted to intern at the Jewish Federation because of my strong passion for both public service and the Jewish community,” said Berkowitz. “This role gives me the chance to learn about the inner workings of a nonprofit that is so deeply committed to allocating resources where they are most needed within the Greater Philadelphia Jewish community.”
Berkowitz currently attends Lehigh University, where she is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in psychology and health, medicine and society, with a concentration in behavioral and clinical health. She is also enrolled in Lehigh’s 4+1 program for a master’s in public health and is a teacher's apprentice for the psychology department.
Berkowitz previously worked at Alike Health in Israel as a marketing intern, where she developed marketing strategies, wrote blogs and managed social media platforms. She spent the last semester studying abroad in Denmark.
During her internship, Berkowitz will be reviewing and compiling grantee data to identify key insights, tracking grantee spotlights from the marketing team, developing a format for a grantee newsletter, and researching training or funding opportunities for grantees.
Meet Lucas Glozman: Marketing Intern
“I'm excited to gain real-world experience in campaign strategy, content creation and audience engagement, while also learning from professionals who care deeply about making a difference,” said Glozman. “As a Philadelphia native, I was drawn to the Jewish Federation's mission to strengthen and serve the Jewish community, and I wanted to be part of that impact while learning more about how it all happens behind the scenes.”
Glozman is a rising senior at Vanderbilt University, majoring in human and organizational development. He previously interned in mergers and acquisitions at Sila Services and has a strong interest in marketing and organizational strategy.
Glozman is passionate about using storytelling to inform and inspire, including through his history-themed TikTok account that has grown over 300,000 followers.
During his internship, Glozman will work closely with the Marketing Department to create a content strategy for the Jewish Federation’s 125th anniversary.
