On May 12, Women of Vision members and guests gathered at the annual Spring Event to celebrate the group’s impact on the lives of self-identifying Jewish women and girls.
Held at the Hilton Philadelphia City Avenue, the event welcomed over 200 attendees and featured a conversation between Broadway performer and Tony Award-winning composer Shaina Taub and Women of Vision member Caroline Kamesar.
During the program, Taub reflected on the creation of her original Broadway musical “Suffs,” which brings the women’s suffrage movement to life. She spoke about the challenges and the perseverance required to bring the production to the stage and emphasized the power of theatre to inspire social change.
“Women have been capable of making enormous progress before,” Taub shared. “When I’m feeling the pull of cynicism, I think of them. If they can do it, we can too.”
Led by Women of Vision Chair Cindy Warkow, Event Co-Chairs Andi Barsky and Dana Ufberg, and a dedicated host committee of volunteers and supporters, the signature event focused on this year’s theme, “Trailblazing Women: Reshaping Our Future.”
“The story of women organizing, advocating, and reshaping the future to vote reminds us that progress is built by women willing to step forward, lead, and take action,” said Andi Barsky.
“That same spirit lives within Women of Vision,” Dana Ufberg added. “From our founders to our current leadership, this community has consistently championed change.”
Continuing the tradition of advocacy, the event also included a voting station for members to cast their ballots on which Greater Philadelphia organizations should receive funding in this grant cycle, with results expected to be announced in late June.
